We at Luxozine love our toys, especially our gadgets. Duan Dao, our Director, is very fond of his sleek Motorola Q. Fearing the inevitable crash and burn, he sought out an armor shield that was less geek and all chic. The Motorola Q Designio Leather Shell was born.

Having owned and dropped many high-end PDA’s, one of the first accessories that I almost always purchase for my new, shiny device is a case to protect it from the eventual drop onto the terra firma.

Like many, I am very picky with what sheaths my electronic gadget. I want it to protect but I also don’t want it to be too bulky, taking away from the slim form factor of the my device; in this case the Sprint PCS Motorola Q.
The Motorola Q Designio Leather Shell Case is constructed of what appears to be some high quality hide. The leather is then wrapped over a sturdy metal form to maintain its rigidity. Workmanship also appears to be very nice with the stitching and attention to detail on par with some of the higher end custom made PDA cases.

Day-to-day operation of the case is adequate. I have not experienced any hindrances in my ability to type or operate the scroll wheel (which I rarely use) while using this case. I am able to shoot pictures and short video clips without it being obstructed by the small openings. Such a fact is a testament to the quality design of the Designio case. There are no worries whether this case will slip out of your pocket. If I do decide to break the cardinal fashion faux pas of wearing this device on my belt, this case has a built-in threaded insert that I can attach the included screw so that I can clip it directly onto the belt clip. I’ll be using the clip during the workday and taking it off during off hours so that I don’t scream “GEEK”.

Here’s a shot of the back side of the case. All speaker openings, flash, and the camera lens are given plenty of room so you get unencumbered usage. You’ll also note the threaded nut-sert to allow you to screw onto the belt clip stud which is also easily removable.
The Boxwave Moto-Q case maintains the waffe-like thinness of the phone itself. For future models, I’d like to see contrasting stitching in either red or white to give the case a bit of distinction.
The Motorola Q Designio Leather Shell Case can be purchase directly from the Boxwave Corporation site (www.boxwave.com) or from a myriad of other on-line retailers that sell accessories for PDA’s. I happened upon this case whilst purchasing a replacement Samsung WEP200 bluetooth headset that died on me (note to self, don’t buy these from eBay) on Amazon.com. I was able to purchase this for $24.95 USD which is not bad considering I’ve found this case elsewhere for nearly $30.

Now that my Motorola Q is protected from the harsh world, I can go about my day answering e-mail’s and surfing the web knowing that my case will bare the brunt of an accidental drop.
